The beauty of the northern lakes

Most people arriving in the Lake District often see Windermere as their first and final stop.

It's the easiest place to get to both via road and rail but whilst the lake and views are pretty, there is so much more to explore in the northern lake district.

The area north of Keswick boasts a plethora of sights, activities and places to visit and enjoy being in the countryside with the added bonus that nothing is really that far away.

Our country estate is situated in the rural countryside to the north of Skiddaw (the sixth highest mountain in England), to the east of the Solway first (an area of outstanding natural beauty) and south of Carlisle, a proud border city with castle and quaint shopping areas.

Often overlooked due to the furore of people wanting to bag a Scafell or just laze around Windermere, this area of the lakes has many things to offer the adventurer and also those of a more contemplative disposition.

Beach walks on the Solway firth, icecreams at Silloth, a pint at the Sun Inn, Bassenthwaite marvelling at the dizzy heights of Skiddaw, a stroll through the forest at Dodd Wood, enjoying the water activities on Derwent Water, browsing the many shops in busy Keswick or taking a drive across the Caldbeck fells into Uldale and beyond.

It's an area to get lost in, its frequented by few people and is ideal for recharging your batteries.

We invite you to join us here and experience the joy of the northern lakes.
